Was browsing 9down and noticed a comment by a Slysoft Team member under any AnyDVD post. The changes to the downloading of trials is interesting! Having said that, all it takes is one person to release the exe and it'll spread in no time. Not sure what they intend to achieve this way. Just like with Alcohol 120% etc... the exe's will get out there. Thread was here: http://9down.com/story.php?sid=8374

Five Hackers Who Left a Mark on 2006 In the security year that was 2006, zero-day attacks and exploits dominated the headlines...However, the year will be best remembered for the work of members of the hacking?er, security research?community who discovered and disclosed serious vulnerabilities in the technologies we take for granted, forced software vendors to react faster to flaw warnings and pushed the vulnerability research boat into new, uncharted waters. In no particular order, here's my list of five hackers who left a significant mark on 2006 and set the stage for more important discoveries in 2007: http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2078402,00.asp

Microsoft Manager Says It Considered Banning Vista Virtualization In a story for the Associated Press carried on many online news services this afternoon, one of the directors of Microsoft's Windows Client Product Planning team appears to make a curious and perhaps astounding statement. Scott Woodgate is quoted as saying that a Black Hat security conference demonstration last August, where virtualization functions were exploited to plant an active rootkit onto a beta of the Windows Vista kernel, scared Microsoft to the point where the company seriously considered removing virtualization capability from Vista entirely.Ostensibly, the AP article was about Microsoft's decisi…

Watermark Helps Track Movie Uploader A man who allegedly uploaded a copy of the movie "Flushed Away" to the Internet was tracked down using a wartermark on the film and now faces a felony charge that could send him to prison for up to three years. 27 year-old Salvador Nunez Jr. obtained the movie from his sister, an Oscar voter.Nunez admitted to also uploading "Happy Feet," but only "Flushed Away" was discovered on his hard drive when FBI agents visited his house. Movie screeners, which are sent to voters in advance of their official DVD release, are often leaked to the Internet and watermarking technology has recently been implemented to track their source. http://www.be…

Probably not news to most of the folks here, but in case you missed it, a guy named arnezami cracked the processing key that unlocks the DRM on all HD DVD and Blu-ray discs released to date. Huh...I thought the DRM on these was gonna take a lot longer than that to crack. Here's arnezami's post on the Doom9 Forum: />http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=121866

I read something about reindexing in a DEViANCE nfo and am curious what this is. I'm not new to game related file formats but I've never heard anything about that (or maybe I already know it but under a different name?) Something reasonable would be that they mean adding files to a game archive and thus changing the indexes of the files, but they write "in regards to game .exe's"

Here's one short movie about Google's evil masterplan. This happens to every company that becomes extremely strong and influential, but not without a reason. This film doesn't really reveal new things to us, but tells it all in a way that really makes you wonder if you want to have your mail account hosted by them or even use the search engine. After this I'm seriously thinking about getting few bucks together with my friends to put up a mail server. http://masterplanthemovie.com/

http://wesleytech.com/anydvd-hd-coming-soon/Preliminary reports over at the new SlySoft support forum indicate that SlySoft is hard at work developing AnyDVD HD, a new software product that is designed to help decrypt HD DVD movies (HD DVD-ROMs) on the fly. This is a logical evolution for the company behind the famous AnyDVD app, which is an excellent piece of software that allows users to decrypt DVD discs on-the-fly. This is great news for HD DVD owners who wish to back up their HD DVD movies. The SlySoft support team is top of the line, as they openly ask their users to send in information on any new discs that AnyDVD has trouble with. With the help of their users, Sly…
