spiderhole
I could be wrong, but I believe that recent releases of AnyDVD also sneak a program on called "Zepter" software. Is anyone familiar with this...or have you experienced the same thing? After I loaded AnyDVD I found a registry entry for this Zepter software that will not go away. zer0buRn
Time to find an alternative now to AnyDVD. I haven't installed the newest version and will not now. I am still running 5960 which works perfect. so I don't see any point in updating but if the occasion need arise then i'll just use an alternative.. Guest Hawk7
I think this may be a way of disabling registration when using a pirated key. When I installed the latest version I believe I also saw a dll file called (kill reg or registration). Something like that. Anyway my firewall won't let anything in or out without letting me know about it first! Edited May 31, 2006 by Hawk7
Guest G0TCHA
Hello! @Hawk7 Maybe this is not the approperiate place to tell such things.. but... You think your firewall will notify you when the app tries to connect to the net!! You gotta doubt that! Cos with a small "code injection", the app could bypass the firwall! You see what i mean! the app you using, could "for the first run" inject a piece of sh!t code in "IEXPLORER" process (for example or any other unmonitored app) and have full access to the net without you get any kinda notification from your "robust" firewall! You're a cracker! so, don't trust any automated sh!t Greetz Edited May 31, 2006 by G0TCHA
spiderhole
A couple comments. First, I've been running AnyDVD 5.9.6.0 and got the Zepter registry entry so going back to that version won't solve the problem. However...I ran RegDelNull and was then able to delete the Zepter registry entry, and AnyDVD still seems to work fine. And I've rebooted and re-started AnyDVD and Zepter has not re-appeared.I'll investigate further, but it seems that the problem may be solved....just a bit more of a pain to set up AnyDVD. If anyone discovers otherwise, please post. Thanks.
CUDiLLA
@G0TCHA Some firewalls can detect "Code Injection" and block this, you know? e.g. the Kerio/Sunbelt Firewall. But, don't know if this works on all processes they are active! Because i'm not sure if the Kerio Firewall is monitoring all of it! Anyway - back to topic... I think a good alternative to AnyDVD is DVDFab Decrypter! Greetz, CUDiLLA!
Guest Hawk7
In any case I see no problem. I also monitor my system in other ways. and do not feel threatened by this at all! Edited May 31, 2006 by Hawk7
Guest Findme
that program updates too much. i still got an old copy of the anydvd software and still using it without any problems. until they hit 6.X.X.X i see no point in upgrading unless its a must. Loki
It evolves every time Sony Arcoss protection spawns a variation. Very few fixes or improvements in each version.
spiderhole
Here's an update...I successfully used RegDelNull to let me delete the Zepter registry key BUT today, after I rebooted, I see that the Zepter key has magically returned! pesky. spiderhole
...and yet another update....I've upgraded to AnyDVD v5.9.6.3 and the Zepter software is nowhere to be found. I've loaded AnyDVD, rebooted, closed AnyDVD, re-loaded it, rebooted, and still not Zepter. So maybe it was just in a previous release?
Guest Hawk7
Yeah, I think after some people complained about it, and spread it around the web... They got smart and removed it before it affected business. Edited June 6, 2006 by Hawk7

Guest Hawk7
Hi Blah, elby and slysoft have the same version of clondvd 2.8.9.9BTW, 3.9.4.0 is dvdxcopy or something like that, but I prefer the slysoft version hands down. But I guess it's all a matter of opinion. Peace

Abdul
OFF About the code injection and firewalls ... latest Agnitum Outpost Firewall got some anti-leak protections. I tried some and it warned me every time. Worth a look ... but its a little too paranoid for my taste ... it`s monitoring alot of shiet tho. /OFF Edit: and i just noticed how old is the topic LOL Edited April 19, 2007 by Abdul
