http://news.com.com/FBI+calls+for+hacker+help/2100-7348_3-6101475.htmlLAS VEGAS--The FBI needs help from hackers to fight cybercrime, an agency official said Wednesday. "We need your expertise and input as we develop strategies to battle cybercrime in the 21st century," Daniel Larkin, a unit chief in the FBI's cybercrime division, said in his opening address at the annual Black Hat security conference here. As cybercrime has continued to become more sophisticated and organized, federal agencies have increasingly sought to partner with the private sector. Earlier this year, FBI Director Robert Mueller used the RSA Conference to send out a similar message. "The people we'r…

There is a bug in WinXP which causes some of your tray icons to disappear. This bug has been around for at least 2 years that I know of. Microsoft keep avoiding the issue by claiming it is the "hide icons" feature - absolute bollocks Dunno what triggers the bug but after installing/uninstalling some apps tray icons start disappearing next time you boot. It's a very annoying bug especially if you need to access tray icons for some functions. Until recently the only sure way I knew to get the icons back was to log off then log on (same user). Tray icons all reappear but then disappear again next time you boot. Finally a cure (at least until next time the bug is trigge…

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2006-07-27-skype-kazaa-settlement_x.htmLONDON ? Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis, the billionaire Internet entrepreneurs who created Kazaa and Skype, have reached into their own pockets to help settle a lawsuit brought by the music and movie industries. "(I) cannot say any more other than that the settlement costs are bei…

BitTorrent site operators have an abundance of responsibilities; keeping their servers online, providing the latest torrents, and avoiding a Suprnova fate. With some talent and patience, the first two criteria are well within the administrator's control. The last concept isn't so straight forward, as administrators have been trying for years to keep copyright holders at bay The strategy for accomplishing this varies depending on the BitTorrent site. Although BitTorrent sites are not inherently illegal, the content which they index has been the subject of numerous legal actions. To mitigate the chances of becoming the next LokiTorrent, isoHunt.com and BitTorrent.com both …

I've been toying with the idea of adding a new forum area called something like Olly Love. As you can guess it will be a forum dedicated to (and with their corresponding sub-forum areas) all things to do with Olly; scripts, plugins, tools, etc. all present Olly forum topics will be moved to there. It is just an idea but I'm not sure if that extra forum area will crowd and confuse things regarding the tools and unpacking area. So... feel free to give your opinion and tell me if I should burn the idea to ashes if you think its crap... Ted.

Hey, everyone! It's been a while since I've posted here, but I figured I'd drop by and mention something. The SWGEmu project, an emulator for emulating Star Wars Galaxies servers from before Sony Online messed the game up with the "Combat Upgrade", is looking for reversers. They hope to find someone who can study the game client and tell them where data is going when it hits the client, what the packet structures of various commands are, things like that. If anyone is up to the challenge, their website is located at: http://www.swgemu.com and their irc information is: irc.idlemonkeys.net #swg Or, if you just want more information on the project, feel free to PM me …

Little Charlie says: "Daddy, how was I born?" Daddy confused he replied: "Ah, my son, I guess sooner or later you 'll find it out anyway! Well, you see, your Mom and I first got together in a chat room on MSN. Then I set up a date via e-mail with her and we met at a cyber-cafe. We sneaked into a secluded room, where your mother agreed to a download from my hard drive. As soon as I was ready to upload, we discovered that none of us had used a firewall, and since it was too late to hit the delete button, nine months later a blessed little Pop-Up appeared and said: You've Got e-Male!"

The almost dead star of 1990s was hacked. Netscape?s website included cross-site scripting vulnerability, which allowed hackers to include some external scripts into their web. The probable reason for this was one article comparing Digg and Netscape. I?m quite satisfied user of Digg and never heard that Netscape has something similar, but it looked like their copied the most of Digg?s ideas to their website, although there?s not many readers or people who submit new articles. The result of hack was quite visible for every user of Netscape.com - random popups with text like ?Tom Way is the sexiest man alive?, ?This site sucks? or some others. What?s even more interesting, N…
