CodeExplorer Posted August 7, 2011 Posted August 7, 2011 Top Antivirus Software Review/>http://www.all-internet-security.com/top_10_antivirus_software.html Never heard of first two! #7 Avira Antivir Premium, #8 ESET NOD32 Antivirus, #9 Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 should get more points if you ask me #6 ZoneAlarm Anti-virus Is a good firewall but in rest not so good. #5 Panda Antivirus Pro 2011 and #3 Norton Antivirus 2011 and should always be on last place especially Panda god damn. These are just my comments
CodeExplorer Posted August 7, 2011 Author Posted August 7, 2011 http://antivirus.about.com/od/antivirussoftwarereviews/tp/aatpavwin.htm Here VIPRE Antivirus is on first place; never heard on it neither; the writer of the post got to be the VIPRE author lol

mudlord Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I have to wonder if Symantec paid the author of that review......
PeP Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 I think Panda Cloud is a good antivirus for the resources it consumes.
Killboy Posted August 8, 2011 Posted August 8, 2011 Kaspersky or NOD, there's not much you can get wrong with these
CodeExplorer Posted August 8, 2011 Author Posted August 8, 2011 Kaspersky use API-Hooking; Kaspersky is quite good but use a lot of resources. Even if my friends told me that they use NOD I don't trust NOD. NOD doesn't have a good detection. As for my top: 1. Bitdefender Total Security 2012: I have it in this laptop (from where I post this) and is great: good antivirus&firewall 2. Avira Premium Security Suite this one on my sister's laptop 3. avast! Internet Security finally decided to put it on my less performant pc 1
Jaymz Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) I prefer the free Online Armor as firewall, Avast 6 Free as AV, good detection rates but gotta tweak it's settings a bit, and add a lot of directories into it's exclusion lists or like every "tool" i use get's tagged as malware/trojan by Avast and it wants to remove them. As an addition,I also have Malwarebytes Anti-Malware running in the background,aswell.. Look here for some interesting results on Kaspersky,Norton,ESET,Avast,Avira among others.. http://malwareresearchgroup.com/malware-tests/flash-test-results/ Edited August 12, 2011 by Jaymz
Fungus Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I am using MSE, and I think it's pretty darn good, and I am no fan normally of Microsoft.I also am using the Windows 7 firewall (properly setup of course) and it is also damn good and not annoying like most. But you really gotta hit the IT forums to learn to set it up to work how you want it to.NOD is not as good as it was in years past... Kaspersky just using WAY to many resources for me, same for Avira. Anything from Norton/Symantec is just crap...
Teddy Rogers Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Check AV-Test for their quarterly reports on AV software and whether they pass certification. There are tabs at the top to select OS and which yearly quarter.../>http://www.av-test.org/certificationsSymantec always seems to score quite highly on there...Ted.
Jaymz Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 You're right Ted.That's pretty reliable source to look at when comparing AV's..The freeware solutions firewall/av-wise are enough for me.Only protection software I have bought are Winpatrol and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware,those two are really worth buying,in my opinion.@Fungus: Win7 Firewall is pretty much as good as any other "decent" firewall, onehas to do a lot of tweaking on it's settings as you said..There does exist (unfortunately) some commercial software for that, which makes things a lot easieron using+configuring Windows own firewall..This is interesting software: Binisoft Windows Firewall Control .. costs only $10 to become a registered member.http://www.binisoft.org/wfc.php
CodeExplorer Posted August 13, 2011 Author Posted August 13, 2011 Fungus: Yes Kaspersky consumes a lot of resources but Avira ... you use a "low" computer ? I won't stop at one av over my local network but Symantec is not and won't be on the list.
MafiaOnMove Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I'm on Vipre ,.. Good so far, kinda strict too . But its ok, saves manytimes

NeO Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 i use nod32, and zonealarm firewall pro.-.- so fare so good after 10 years.. which FIREWALL you use guys??
cozofdeath Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 #7 Avira Antivir Premium, #8 ESET NOD32 Antivirus, #9 Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 should get more points if you ask me #6 ZoneAlarm Anti-virus Is a good firewall but in rest not so good. ZoneAlarm uses the Kaspersky engine Symantec always wins. What do you guys think of Comodo? I noticed it has the similar hooking actions as Kaspersky and others but what is the detection rate and resources like for other "real" users. I've switched a while back from being a big fan of ZoneAlarm Security Suite and having compatibility issues with our new computer and it seems very compatible with everything, quite, quick, simple, and non-intrusive. Not to mention the whole suite is free.
stellios Posted September 19, 2011 Posted September 19, 2011 I've always used Kaspersky, good interface and customizable options BUT as stated by many here....... a real resource hog and false alarm city with reversing tools and it hates anything protected with ASProtect and Themida! All experiences with Symantec, Trend, and Panda lead me to believe they are CRAP!
cipher Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 From my point@Avast : its not good coz it gives false alarms on packers and deletes all my packed apps without a sign(poor coding)@kaspersky : its good coz it uses ring0 hooking and has heuristic and proactive defence.i prefer sophos tho.
cozofdeath Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 According to Panda, they are #1. Then again all the others always say they are the best. And it goes on and on and on./>http://www.pandasecurity.com/homeusers/solutions/internet-security/

chickenbutt Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 tell me the name of an AV that doesn't allow driver loading and access to password storage locations after it's past the signature engine?
