LCF-AT Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Hi Aguila, "WinLicense x64 2.2.9.0 enjoy" - How on x86? Would be nice if you could create also a x86 UnpackMe with "Super-Duper-Hyper-Dyper Anything of Everything Extra Specials". So you are a coder and you could also use "all" extra features of WL which is not possible normaly / default mode.Maybe you create a Tut4You WL 2014 UnpackMe or something like this if you like. greetz 2
EvOlUtIoN Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 This is the reason why it is *very hard*.Acutally themida for x86, is just advanced, not very hard. x64 arch is becoming a must, so try this one.
GIV Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 x64 arch is becoming a must, so try this one. If i get a donation of compatible hardware i will sure try.
kao Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Oh, come on guys, complaining about x64 is ridiculous! There's a growing market of x64 protections, why not make crackmes with these protections? The fact that some people can't run them doesn't change a thing.. (and yes, I'm still running 32bit XP as my primary operating system) 3
GIV Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 and yes, I'm still running 32bit XP as my primary operating system FWIK under 10% use X64. Switch to X64 for what? Just to try some unpackmes? Maybe you have other POW but i think i will stay some more years on X86 because i have no motive to switch. All my daily programs witch i use daily are running on a low config. I don't brute or try to make from the sh*t a long cord to have the need for a super mega giga complicated PC with 1k of cudas and 32GB of RAM. I don't even know how to use my hardware properly. Maybe are persons who already own this hardware, have the will, have the knowledge and have the time to try this and for sure they will. P.S. I will switch on a beast computer when i will find a game that worth the upgrade. This config i bought when i was in the need to run a 2004 version of NFS. From then the adventure games run on my PC. Other games i play on Xbox.
ZenLoren Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 For 32 bit we have a lots of good stable tools for dumping, debugging etc...For 64 bit we have tools which are under the process of becoming good.Once we have our tools ready its almost the same. Only difference is we would be seeing 16 bytes rather than 8 bytes.24" or even higher monitor is an must for sure.Cheers ZenLoren
Nooby Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 (edited) It is interesting that the lack of a handy 64-bit debugger and strongod-like tools made people rejecting 64-bit targets. Are we going to sit here and wait for those tools to come to us like script kiddies? Please quit the 64-bit takeover discussion and work on the actual problem, not to mention there are several active projects going on, like TitanEngine/Hide, x64_dbg and stuff. And I believe most protector developers have no better tools anyways. Edited May 9, 2014 by Nooby 1
Aguila Posted May 9, 2014 Author Posted May 9, 2014 Hi Aguila, "WinLicense x64 2.2.9.0 enjoy" - How on x86? Would be nice if you could create also a x86 UnpackMe with "Super-Duper-Hyper-Dyper Anything of Everything Extra Specials". ok challenge accepted :-D @giv all new PCs are sold with 64bit. Windows 64bit market share is about 50%. You need 64bit if you have more than 4 GB RAM. RAM is very cheap nowadays and if you work with VMs, 4GB is like nothing. 8-16GB is standard nowadays. I know that some reverser have PC hardware from the 90's... but dont think that you are the majority...
LCF-AT Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Coolio. So I also still use just 32 Bit XP (as always) and I think I can't install a 64 Bit OS so in my BIOS the Virtual thing xy dings bums (can't remember the name) is not to enable for me. No idea why etc.So I just hope that 32 Bit software will keep alive. So I don't know whether there is any normal software which need more than 3 or 4 GB ram (don't talk about 3D render movie stuff etc aka Hollywood...). greetz 1
antrobs Posted May 26, 2014 Posted May 26, 2014 32 bit XP too... my hardware also won't support 64 bit, but next i will go for the hardware that supprt 64 bit, it depends on the budget....
mrexodia Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) Seems like the discussion is about if you like x64, not about the unpackme itself lol. I will try to bypass PatchGuard on Win8 so I can use TitanHide... On and a little on topic: Use x64, it supports x86 and all your old tools, but you're ready for the future and for 8GB of ram. My processor: http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Q8400-Processor-Socket-LGA775/dp/B002654FQM, mainboard: http://www.amazon.com/ASRock-2DRR2-MATX-Motherboard-G41C-GS/dp/B003BFNYK4 + some gb of ram: 30E, total price of around 120E oh noo, x64 is soo expensive Greetings, Mr. eXoDia Edited May 29, 2014 by Mr. eXoDia
EvOlUtIoN Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) I don't understand what is x64 problem, for sure it is not a financial one. I dunno where you live, but in Italy is almost impossible to find a new computer not supporting x64.I bought an used notebook 3 years old fo 150€ and it is a core i3, which supports x64.Unfortunately i no longer use Windows, so i have Linux x64 and virtual machine XP x86, to install another vm just for a couple of unpackmes is too much for me. That's the reason why i'm not used to reverse for x64. But don't tell me x64 is not used because all hardware is actually based on x64 architecture. Edited May 29, 2014 by EvOlUtIoN
xSRTsect Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 (edited) I actually use a x64 host , but I don't know for instance a debugger on this architecture, will odbr2.0 work? EDIT: wow! exodia, fine work with x64 dbgr seems to work pretty well Edited May 29, 2014 by xSRTsect
GIV Posted May 29, 2014 Posted May 29, 2014 For me is not the problem if is expensive or not.I simply do not need a X64 OS for what i do right now.
EvOlUtIoN Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Ok, and what a bout run o.s. faster with x64 and use more than 4GB of ram?
GIV Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 As i say i don't play RAM hungry games or draw in CAD programs. I don't need X64 right now. Maybe when the actual computer will pass by. I thought a lot but i don't find a real reason. But let's not turn the attention from the unpack-me. Is just a matter of time before it gets unpacked.
JohnWho Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 I have been on Win7 x64 for a long time and i'm a fan.
Extreme Coders Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 (edited) It's always possible to use more than 4 GB ram on x86.Infact my system uses 8 GB on Win 7 x86. The kernel of the system is patched, so it bypasses the 4 GB limitation. BTW, 2 years back I tried x64 and switched back to x86 after a year.I needed x64 for that rendering, cad stuff but not anymore now. Edited August 1, 2014 by Extreme Coders
mrexodia Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 @Extreme Coders: Why switch back? x64 has full backwards-compatibility with x86, the only disadvantage is that you need a little bit more RAM, but 8GB is more than enough. Greetings 1

Aguila Posted August 1, 2014 Author Posted August 1, 2014 Ah I just learned a funny new english phrase: stick-in-the-mud [person who resists change] To all stick-in-the-mud people: I don't really want to hear your story. Sooner or later you must accept new technology. Like quad core CPUs or smartphones with touch screen... 3
SmilingWolf Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 (edited) Ok, either I am doing something wrong or I don't know what's going on, it can't be that easy... Looks like the only protection you get using Themida x64 is the VM (and the licensing system when using WL perhaps?). Oh well, good to know UnpackMex64 MUPed.7z Edited January 23, 2015 by SmilingWolf 3
