Here's an excellent video on malware removal by Mark Russinovich, author of many tools in the sysinternals suite. Very good for semi-beginners into the world of malware exploration and analysis.

I don't believe the basics of removing malware have changed all that much at the level the talk is on so you should be fine applying those techniques. If you get much lower level eg. dissasembling/debugging to see how it works then you might run into new protection schemes and the like that may get outdated.
