Just to let people know who have a Blog setup or plan on doing so I have changed some of the settings which you should be aware of:

- Forum guests can add comments to your blog but you have the option to disable this in your Blog settings if you do not want guests active on your Blog.

- You can specify which of the forum skins you want your readers to view your Blog in.

- Attachment sizes are set at 15MB. I think this is more than enough

If you have any questions or queries about the Blog please read here:

...and if you still don't find the answer please ask us...

I still didn't get what exactly a Trackback is...

To put it simply it is a referrer. Example: someone posts a link to your blog at http://www.lookatthisblog.com and someone clicks on it from there it will show up on your trackback.

Unfortunately it has been known to be prone to spamming but there is a spambot installed. However I am not sure how effective it is so I will keep an eye on it and if it becomes a pain I will disable this feature altogether. For now it is at the discretion of the blogger if they wish to have this feature on or off...

  • 4 weeks later...

I was looking at the trackbacks for the blogs, everyone of them seems to be from

http://groups.google.com/group/best-drugs-sites-**/

And there is a lot of them, I changed the settings of my blog to no more trackback, its kinda lame if its just this junk.

I have known since the Blog pages were installed of the potential issues with trackbacks. Having looked at the automated blocked trackbacks I decided to disable it for now.

IP Blog 1.4 is at release candidate stage and I think there will be some improvements to come in this area when the final is released. Maybe then I will look at re-enabling it again.

Oh! and thank you for reporting this to me and bringing it back to my mind...
