ragdog Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 hi i playing with updateresource my source works goodi open the target exe in the hexeditor have it at the end of this file this signs PADDINGXXPAD.....What is itgreetsragdog
Ufo-Pu55y Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 PADDINGXXPAD.....Yes, I also thought WTF some weeks ago, while playing with UpdateResource. But nevermind.. it's just another strange M$ thingy, and afaik will only come up when using UpdateResource. Well, as the string says itself.. it's used for section alignment - in order not to get odd sizes by updating resources. Simply forget it
ragdog Posted January 23, 2008 Author Posted January 23, 2008 thanks for you reply I can delete without the executable file gets errors?
Fungus Posted January 24, 2008 Posted January 24, 2008 just fill the PADDING bytes will 00. it is exactly what they say they are, padding, to preserve alignment. Resource Binder does the same thing when rebuilding resources... most annoying
