I have repeatedly been asked for a next step up from the keygen tut in the newbie series (#36). I finally have found the time to do so. The attached keygenme (see below) is supposed to be accessible for and aimed at newbie level till intermediate (newbie level having understood tut#36, now wanting to try the next level). Rated 2/10.

Goal was not to make something difficult, but it will require a good understanding of how things work anyway. I'm awaiting your solutions here and will post mine with commented source (asm) in a couple of days.

I am sure you have heard this many a time but I must say a BIG thanks to you for taking the time to write these tutorials. Part 36 was one part I really thought could do with a little more practise material and here it is. You are number one in my books.

I've given this a whirl......

I dunno, following the source is do able, I really think more benefit would come if you turn it into a flash type tutorial like the others. Showing the code rips start and end points, jump fixing, recoding effective addresses etc.

Way to many things going on that requires checking and jump fixing.......I don't agree with a 2/10 for a noob.

I'll give it some more effort, hopefully post a solution when I'm done.

Here is the solution for non-coders using the templates from Part36. Source (masm) and rips included.

Remarks: for best understanding, the solution keygen asks for input of a name of 12 characters minimum (if the name is shorter, the stuff will grab some other chars which complicates things: I want to keep this simple so that it is easy to understand. You'ld better do the same).

This is made for non-coders also. The keygen can much simpler, especially if you know how to code in asm. Also, I have ripped much more than necessary (also code that is never run) so that you can easily follow and understand.

If it still is dark matter, then set series of nops in the algo to easily find back a difficult point and compile the keygen (use the included source) and debug the keygen in olly.

I hope this clears it somehow up a little.

other easy peasy ones are the ones for eusing free tools, they have a nag that is removed by entering a serial. You could make some keygens for these 1/10 algo's in a few minutes with limited knowledge.
