Ziggy
There is a bug in WinXP which causes some of your tray icons to disappear. This bug has been around for at least 2 years that I know of. Microsoft keep avoiding the issue by claiming it is the "hide icons" feature - absolute bollocks Dunno what triggers the bug but after installing/uninstalling some apps tray icons start disappearing next time you boot. It's a very annoying bug especially if you need to access tray icons for some functions. Until recently the only sure way I knew to get the icons back was to log off then log on (same user). Tray icons all reappear but then disappear again next time you boot. Finally a cure (at least until next time the bug is triggered). Go to My Network Places and click on "show icons for networked UPnP devices" Turn this feature on then off again. Next time you reboot, tray icons reappear and stay there. I've used this on a few separate PCs with the same problem - all fixed. Maybe everyone already knows about this? If not maybe this might help someone else tearing their hair out. Teddy Rogers
Probably because they are waiting for someone to code a fix then they'll either steal the idea or buy the company outright - or make it another acquisition... Ted.
Halcyon
Yeah I've dealt with this bug myself. Quite annoying especially if you got all the icons exactly how you want them and then it gets rid of them completely or puts them in obscure places due to putting them in alphabetical order or something.
