More and more speculations are surfacing over the reported iPod killer from Microsoft. Codenamed Argo, the Redmond Company's project of an iPod rival has, since the time it has surfaced, even changed its name. Reports now state that Microsoft is hard at work on Project Zune, although this may be an intermediary name as well, and the final product may vary in this aspect. To this, project Pyxis and Alexandria can be added. The first will be a product similar to the iPod nano. According to rumors, Alexandria will be the bridge between, probably URGE and Zune, in the same synchronous manner the functions between iPod and iTunes.

Sources familiar with the Redmond Company's projects have disclosed that there is a possibility that Zune will hit the market prior to its announced date of December 2006. Microsoft-branded portable media player will spearhead is the company's takeover of a market indisputable dominated by the Apple iPod of which the software giant plans to steal no less than 20%. Moreover, Microsoft is set to do so starting this fall, all sources pointing to the building of momentum to meet an October launch.

Zune is said to come in variants of 30GB and 60GB portable players with prices somewhere under the $399 of the high end iPod. Microsoft's portable media player will also comprise WiFi, video and gaming features run by a 400 MHz processor.
