LCF-AT
Hi guys, just would like to know whether it's possible to prevent itself of different fingerprint detection or not. On internet you can find many posts & info's about that theme that sites using different types of detection's to assign to your unique FP and to recognize you each time. All in all I don't like that idea to run around anywhere naked. It's already strange that G00G knows what kind of videos I wanna watch on YT (just possible by knowing me and assign to my FP). My simple question in this case is whether we can do anything about it or not? I tried many extension but they all crap & ineffective if you check them with different test sites. Only thing what seems to work against canvas FP is using Firefox with privacy.resistFingerprinting = true option. Otherwise in case of Chrome I can use the hidden flag called "--disable-reading-from-canvas" which seems to work but then bookmark icons are broken not showing anymore for some bookmark extensions and some sites are also not working anymore to play media content (internal player error) and YT player is also no more showing correctly just in case of Chrome. In Firefox I don't have those problems. Anyway, so to come back to my headline question. Is anything doable or should we just forget it trying to take care about that problem? What's your opinion and experiences about it? All in all I would think that it really make no sense anymore trying to be private in internet, right? Somehow that's really disappointing. Below some sites for testings... https://fingerprint.com/ https://amiunique.org/fp https://browserleaks.com/ https://iphey.com/ https://webbrowsertools.com/ greetz
Teddy Rogers
Within reason... a hopeless game. My thoughts are, if you are too aggressive masking, blocking or evading various types of fingerprints you only end up breaking the functionality of many websites. My advice would be to use Firefox in strict mode with multi account containers addons and ad-blocking... Ted.
LCF-AT
Hi again, somehow I see that anti-fingerprint options in Firefox you can enable are working on some FP test sites but in case of Brave they all fail what brings the question up why do they all fail in Brave browser? In Brave shields you can enable to block fingerprint (standard or strict or disabled) and in my case I have it set to standard but all test pages fail and I always get the same FP signature back on any try and at the end I have to say that the FP block is not working in Brave browser. TEST yourself: Below again the site to canvas check. In case of using Brave I always get the same Canvas Fingerprint signature back on every test / restart etc. In case of Firefox I always get a new ID back. https://browserleaks.com/canvas Also same with that test site: https://fingerprint.com/ In case of Brave I always get the same ID session XY on any clean restart etc. In case of Firefox I get always a new FP ID. Why the heck is it working in FF but nothing works in Brave? The only thing what I can do is using the hidden Chrome flag called "--disable-reading-from-canvas" to start Chrome / Brave browser with and then I get a new FP but the disadvantage is that some sites are broken now to run correctly like youtube and other video sites who print error 100000. Somehow strange, is Firefox just better in this case and Chrome / Brave just fails? So for what is good for then? For nothing? Its just a fake option or what? greetz
LCF-AT
Hi again, did anyone found a solution how to get new FPs / sigs on those two webpages I did post last time in case of using a Chrome browser? Nothing works! I tried another extensions but they also fail. Also tried using Privacy Badger and Adblock Plus (found infos on internet they would block canvas) but they even not working. That's really strange. Only Firefox with enabled flags in about config is working as I told before. Has anyone some infos about that why nothing works in Chrome based browsers? Only thing I can do is using that old flag "--disable-reading-from-canvas" in command line of Chrome to disable canvas overall but then some sites are not working anymore ()HTML5). Also wonder why Chrome is removing flags from the Experiments site itself (chrome://flags/) you can enable / disable etc and you just can use them as command-line flag only. greetz
LCF-AT
Hi again, I found this one... https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/fingerprint-spoofing/ljdekjlhpjggcjblfgpijbkmpihjfkni ...what seems to work. You can enable & disable all FP detection types via checkbox. Pretty simple and you have all in one extension. Otherwise I found single extension for every FP type (canvas, font, audio, WebGL etc) whats a little bit strange because they all frame same creator. Somehow like some devs who create one app for every single feature instead to put all into one only. Anyway, just give the extension above a try if you like. greetz EDIT: Ok I found one problem in this extension. Somehow it breaks some sites even if I uncheck all options in popup window. That's bad. I just can disable it in Chrome itself. Edited April 5 by LCF-AT New Info added
