Sandboxie Brave YouTube problem

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

so when I start latest version of Brave in SB and go to Youtube to watch any video then...I get error messages of Sandboxie since I did updated Brave browser yesterday from version v1.9.80 to v1.10.90.Seems that this latest version dosent work correctly anymore in Sandboxie 5.33.3 (64-bit) and I got this 3 new error messages when starting Brave...

SBIE2303 Kein Hook möglich für CoGetObject (33, 1655)
SBIE2303 Kein Hook möglich für RegisterDragDrop (33, 1655)
SBIE2318 DLL Initialisierung fehlgeschlagen für 'ole32.dll'

....I never got before with any older Brave version.

I also get this error messages below bot those I got before too when starting any Brave version in SB...

SBIE2101 ConnectPort (C0000022) access=001F0000 initialized=1
SBIE2101 ConnectPort (C0000022) access=001F0000 initialized=1
SBIE2101 ConnectPort (C0000022) access=001F0000 initialized=1

Version Infos of latest Brave version I do use....

1.10.90 Chromium: 83.0.4103.97 (Offical Build) (64-bit)

So can anybody confirm that problem too running it on WIndows 10 x64?

I also tried same latest Brave version in Sandboxie 5.4.1.0 (64-bit) in VM also with Windows 10 x64 and I get same error messages and some more...

The last working Brave version without getting those 3 errors was..

1.9.80 Chromium: 81.0.4044.138 (Official Build) (64-bit)

Not sure whether the problem is the Chromium update or the Brave update.I didnt checked the Chrome browser itself yet so maybe anyone of you can test it too.

Hi again,

today I checked new version of Sandboxie (SandboxieInstall64-v5.41.2) installer and tried to run latest Brave & Chrome browsers inside and I get still same error problems. So it seems that the newer Chrome itself is the problem (83.0.4103.106) what does trigger that problems in Sandboxie.Below I made two pics....

...not sure what in Chrome was changed that SBoxie (new and older versions) throws that errors above I didn't got before using Chrome / Brave.Does anyone get that error problems too?

Hi guys,

today I get again a problem with Brave browser latest version...

BV.png.224be2350b1d19f9ef9156931ec0576c.png

...and trying to run it in Sandboxie. When I start it to run in Sandboxie then all tabs are crashing and all extesions too = nothing works and get loaded right.Outside of Sandboxie is all working.Great!Below on image you can see the bad face icon what I get on everything when trying to load any tab or menu xy to load. All!

NW.png.3444c0f1add194a819604b41d8c75869.png

The question is why.Yesterday it was working but now with latest version of 1.15.72 I get that trouble. Not sure whether its a issue of Upgraded Chromium version or Brave fixes itself (not testet Chrome browser yet alone). In release notes of Brave I get this..

RN.png.5225267393bc0b6d5251e9a10ae2ab23.png

Maybe the security fixes are the problem or so...no clue of course. So does anyone get the problem with latest Brave x64 in Sandboxie?Just wanna verify that the problem isnt on my side but it dosent seems so.A clean start of latest Brave also fails in SB (crash icons on all tabs and no content gets loaded). Some older portable Braves I have on my HDD are still working in same Sandboxie etc.The update of Brave should be the problem.

Question: So far I know are all my personal datas / setting / AddOns and settings etc stored into the \Brave-Browser\User Data\Default folder I can copy and restore.Seems also to work so far when I do this with nornal installed Brave versions on my PC.Now would like to know how to restore the Default folder in a portable version?

Example: \brave-portable-win64-1.10.97-60\app\83.1.10.97\ is the path of one portable version I have.Inside this folder are other folders but what I have to restore there?I tried to paste all folders from my default folder of installed version into the 83.1.10.97 folder but it didnt work.Does it work anyhow and if yes how?Maybe you can help with that.

PS: I can also not export my uBlock and NoScript settings I made in SB.Where can I find them and export in the profile folder?I tried to copy the folder contend into protable folder and it seems to work BUT some extesions are broken (need repair) and the settings of them are gone!!!What a BS again. Now I am looking for a real Brave offline installer of preview which was working before in SB...

https://github.com/brave/brave-browser/releases/tag/v1.14.84

.....but what to download there? What is the offilne installer of x64 for that version?I tried diffrent of them like this BraveBrowserStandaloneSetup but this want to get on internet and does download the latest version again!?!Whats this again for a BS?Uhhmm! Can anyone help?

Hi again,

now I did checked the Chrome browser itself and see that the Chromium version is the problem why Brave / Chrome isn't working anymore in Sandboxie.Look at the picture I made below....

Chrome.png.63e80306bd25cfc4319e51c70ed7a036.png

...running is outside is working normal but in SB I don't get any tab filled.Just everything so I can do nothing in that case.Any changes of latest Chromium is the problem.Just can hope that they fix that issue soon.

Hi guys,

I have a new question about a problem.

1.) I dont find any menu entry about Open file (ctrl + O) and just can use the shortcut.Where is that menu or how to enable that menu?Dont wanna use shortcuts.Otherwise the "Save page as" menu point is to find under More tools menu point.Hhhmm.Save as is there but not Open file!?Does not sound very logic for me. :)

2.) The drag & drop function are not working in Brave when running Brave in Sandboxie.Firefox Drag & Drop does work running in SB.

Does anyone know how to make both points work? Thanks.

Hi guys,

after a longer while I did check out whether Sandboxie did some updates since version 5.43.6 and the latest version is 5.49.7 now.I did install it to check it and PENG = Errors like hell when I try to run Brave browser into it.

All extensions like uBO / Script and others to all crash straight.Seems I have to downgrade back to SandboxieInstall64-v5.43.6. :( Has anyone some clue why it makes such trouble?Any infos are welcome to fix that problem or I have to switch back to old version.

PS: Using WIn10 x64 with Brave 64 version (installed not portable).

Hi again,

so today my Windows 10 did some updates...

Funktionsupdate für Windows 10, Version 20H2 etc and right after that / restart my Sandboxie 5.43.6 didnt run anymore and could not start the service because of any access rights. It was not possible for me to start the service manually = failed or anything else and now I had to install any newer Sandboxie version and here I got again some problems.

Infos: I installed latest SB version 5.50.8 which seems to work BUT it dosen't work anymore with specific apps like IDM (InternetDownloadManager) what is pretty bad and I tried to downgrade again to any earlier version.Long story short, after trying diffrent versions I found one which is still working as it should (with IDM and with Brave too etc) called Sandboxie version 5.49.8.

Sandboxie-Classic-x64-v5.49.8.exe

Some higher versions 5.50.2 & 5.50.8 do not work with IDM anymore. Not sure why the Devs didn't check & fixed that problems yet.The version 5.49.7 works with IDM & Firefox but not with Brave. All in all pretty bad to check out those stuff to find any working versions for all.So if you got same or similar problems using Sandboxie then just try out that 5.49.8 as latest working version for all OR if you want still use some older version then you can also try version 5.45.2 so this still does work after version 5.43.6 does not more work since my Windows update today.Only just infos from my own tries today.

Hi guys,

found some new issues using SB.Last time I told you that I'am using SB version 5.49.8 to get all working (IDM & Brave) and it seems to work but today I found a problem using the extesnion called "Highlight This".If you enter any words to highlight and you do save it then it will NOT saved if you use Brave browser. If you restart Brave after in same SB then the "Highlight This" extension was reset to default and all your words you did entered before are gone. You can repeat it again & again so its not saving anymore and thats a SB issue.Strange thing is that its still working in Firefox browser. In this problem case now I had agin switch back & downgrade to version 5.45.2 which still works.

Lets talk about their latest versions 5.50.2 - 5.50.8 so none of them does work with IDM Firefox & Brave. On the issue site of SB I found this info...

https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/issues/991

As a temporary workaround for this issue, there are two ways:

Removing in each new release this line from the Templates.ini file in your sandboxie folder:

    Sandboxie/Sandboxie/install/Templates.ini

    Line 2912 in a4e6b49

     BlockPort=1001

Alternatively, it's enough to disable the compatibility template and pasting this line in your sandbox section:
    OpenClsid={AC746233-E9D3-49CD-862F-068F7B7CCCA4}

I don't think it's wise to create a temporary template elsewhere that could be forgotten.

So for me it does not work if I disable / remove that port line if its present then Firefox / Brave IDM still not showing the box with links (youtube test).Maybe the reason is my Windows version which is this...

Microsoft Windows
Version 20H2 (Build 19042.1110)

...can anyone confirm that problem too?
