robocopip Posted April 7, 2014 Share Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Let me tell you what i did to prevent all these kinds of problems. I created a virtual machine using VirtualBox with Windows XP without antivirus and I extract the rar files inside that machine. Of course you need a read only shared folder to do this(see virtualbox documentation on this). In case the files are infected I think that the malware will not "come out" from the virtual machine. Of course you need to have some extra 1-2 GB of Ram to run a virtual machine.
