Lenas Reversing for Newbies Virus Question

My AntiVirus Detects a bunch of threats in that file. Are they really threats or false positives?

antivirus may complain on packed files i have similar problem some program packed with upx  antivirus see as virus but its not.

Let me tell you what i did to prevent all these kinds of problems. I created a virtual machine using VirtualBox with Windows XP without antivirus and I extract the rar files inside that machine. Of course you need a read only shared folder to do this(see virtualbox documentation on this). In case the files are infected I think that the malware will not "come out" from the virtual machine. Of course you need to have some extra 1-2 GB of Ram to run a virtual machine.

 

And of course you will do what you will do inside the virtual machine.
