i've been trying to install OSX 10.9 (Maverick) in VirtualBox from one of the DMGs that are floating around.

But when i boot uBoot and select my DMG installation, the VM crashes, after showing the apple logo for a fraction of a second.

It works fine in VMWare, had no problems installing and running Mavericks, it all updates fine to. I have never had a problem running an iteration of OS X as long as I have used the Zenith432 unlocker to patch VMWare...

did you do a fresh install of 10.9 or an upgrade from 10.7/10.8?

None of my vbox trickery works in vmware and i find myself unable to boot from any boot loader.

@marti

yes, i saw the preinstalled image, but 'd prefer a clean install. :)

I did a fresh install of Mavericks (10.9) from the Soul Dev Team release. Never tried using it with VirtualBox unfortunately...

But SDT only released that vmware image.

Did you use their vmw image to launch a fresh installation? That would get rid of my boot issues...

I used that and it works great.. But i didnt use virtual box i used VMware and i got the 32 bit snow leopard version

It was pretty darn cool seeing OSX run on windows   :)

but your not running anything 64 bit proprietary on any 32 bit machine... and i could only get workstation 7 to properly run on 32 bit for OSX leopards

gimmeee ye source codez and vmwarez

Is there any issue with the sound system? I got an error "Error in creating sound stream"

It is working fine here, no problems. Is your sound card still enabled in the virtual machine?

Yeh, it is enabled in the vmware.

I found some guides for editing the .vmx file, I will try it as soon I finish upgrading the system

Thanks Ted

Have you updated the OS, possibly the latest update broke something?

It works with the following change:

 e33@e33:~$ aplay -L

default

    Playback/recording through the PulseAudio sound server

sysdefault:CARD=Intel

    HDA Intel, CONEXANT Analog

    Default Audio Device

by editing the the .vmx, just change the following

from

sound.fileName = "-1"

sound.autodetect = "TRUE"

To

sound.fileName = "sysdefault:CARD=Intel"

sound.autodetect = "FALSE"

But the only issue, is when scrolling the voice to the maximum, the voice become not clear at all.

Reducing the voice, it become clearer

10.9.1 should be okay, I have been using it without any problems for a while. I haven't tried 10.9.2 update as yet, however I am currently downloading the update as I type. Will report on progress tomorrow...

Don't update to 10.9.2 within the VM, its all broken! I may have a look at it this weekend if I have some spare time and see as to what the cause is. Thankfully backed up VM are easy to restore... :thumbs:

After the update I rebooted and ever since all I get is a grey screen, the Apple logo and the busy icon. I haven't looked at it anymore since previous post. Glad you got it working though... :thumbs:
