uPPP v0.8

hi,

this mainly is a bug fix release, as I currently don't have enough time pushing stuff...


v0.8
-new: 'pack and execute' button in after-patch-created-dialog
-fix: exceptions while creating patch into 'visible' folder (desktop or any other folder opended in explorer.exe)
-fix: crashes after applying file drop
-fix: offset patch dialog file comparison with huge amount of diffs slow/deadlocks
-fix: slow comparison of original and patched files in 'offset patch' dialog
-fix: packer console output not shown

Here we go => uPPP.v0.8.7z

ps: keep on posting suggestions and bug reports!

Surely dear, I will let you know if the bugs I come across. Thanks for the bug fix and update.

SC : Asm, C++ & Delphi only.

I hope the next version of UPP was able to play different music 8-bit extensions, such as Slight Atari Player [*. sap], turrican, sunvox, oxm etc. because most of them just use the music extension *. xm, S3m, *. it, *. mid, *. mo3, *. mod, *. FC3 & 4, sc68, mtm, ahx. and sometimes used the same song. lol :cc_chinese:

I've tried to compress but only down about 750-500kb.

I create my skin and when i try to create the patch i get this message:

In english should be "The input string haven't the right format" or something like that.

If i use default skin the patch is created without problems... is a bug? or i did something wrong?

Which file? The patch.exe? Upack.exe is included and nothing can seriously beat it.

If i use default skin the patch is created without problems... is a bug? or i did something wrong?

I can only answer that question if you share your template.

Hum, yes.. the skinhelper doesn't moan when you don't define a font,

while uPPP itself already expects a font, that's why it fails.

Let's call it a bug and it will be fixed next time,

so that you don't need to include a font,

although I highly recommend to always define a font

due to ****ed up default font settings (mega large for instance)

on many user machines.

Thx for all the links, but sry.. I still didn't see a usable library.

They are all plug-ins for standalone players or something alike.

I set a font and works like a charm... but patch size is bigger for the font, maybe a default system font could be an option.

request/question:

Why doesn't uPPP support S&R at bit level ?

The reason for this:

it happened a few times now, where my patcher fails because a simple register change (EAX<->EBX)

I could've covered this eventuality if there way bit level search in uPPP

example:

C603 00 MOV BYTE PTR DS:[EBX],0

C600 00 MOV BYTE PTR DS:[EAX],0

S&R to cover all registers: C6 0? 00

A "C6 ?? 00" would already be too gready?

If possible in "File Drop" function can there be os detection as path varies on XP and 7

I got a file drop but confuse in path

%APPDATA% on XP will locate to "%USERPROFILE%\Application Data\FOLDER NAME"

%APPDATA% on 7 will locate to "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\FOLDER NAME"

but the actual "FOLDER NAME" Path on 7 is located at "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\FOLDER NAME"

and on XP is located at "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\FOLDER NAME"
