Teddy Rogers
I had been looking for a long, long time for a decent theme for WinXP. I have tried (more than) a few but hated the majority of them because you had to install lots of other crap programs (to pay to upgrade), spyware, adware - that all killed the system - just to allow you to run a theme that wasn't interesting anyway. All this was until I came across Vistamizer.I'll just copy and paste the info on it to better explain:VistaMizer - Give your Windows XP the Vista look!VistaMizer modifies your system files, so that when you reboot after installing VistaMizer, you won't even remember how your old desktop looked like. Why am I posting this? Simply because I think it is a great theme (the best I have come across) that actually works and it looks great. I expected that I would have lots of problems with it but surprisingly after weeks of use this has not been the case. Here is the link so you can check it out and see for yourself:http://www.public.sytes.net/hoefs/windows/...php?lang=en#loghttp://rapidshare.com/files/34255235/Vista...ultilingual.rarTed. Teddy Rogers
I haven't tried uninstalling (I haven't needed to) but updating works fine each time a new version is released. I do know however that it does create an uninstall when you install it, I don't know if this is tailor made for each system... Ted.
Guest joey92077
Thanks, I use crystalxp's vista brico pack... hmm I wonder if this is better? Vista sucks though, but the look is beautiful

dA CLOwN
Very nice theme indeed, but it does leave some stuff behind after uninstalling...
human
uninstall is ****, icons have such big step align like on vista and after uninstall it stays even with xp skin. also it doesn look like vista, 1 most ****ing me off thing in vista is softening of everything and it cant be disabled, yes cleartype in IE7, and other things, but i cant change all fonts to normal like xp, i hate those antialliased even on lcd they suxx, who invented that crap, and even icons in tray are so softened that you cant recognize what it is. next this default font in vista is so big that removes date from tray when taskbar is 2 lines, just shows time and day, date is gone. aero looks nice, too bad there isnt control how much soften background under it. and finally dont install any home editions due local group policies and other administration things are then unaviable. Teddy Rogers
Isn't all that changeable from Display Properties -> Appearance Maybe you just need to install a different font? What about System -> Advanced -> Performance? It would seem strange that none of these options can be changed in real Vista... Ted.
human
well in vista like on your picture(from xp), font property is missing:(you can choose advanced and then change font for some window things, but not desktop and many others.

Loki
Thanks for the link. I have the same issue as you - really don't want to install Stardock or some other bloated crap just to change the theme. Been sticking with the XP Royale Theme for years now. Looking forward to trying this one out

Blah
Would be cool to have a look at them, Blah Especially if they dont require any WindowsBlind **** only cracked uxtheme actually you can grab 4 of them here (not the ones that come with the themed systems though which i can upload so no worries) Note: AlienGUIse is only compatible with Windows XP http://www.alienware.com/intro_pages/invader.aspx but i do think they were custom made from stardock...it has its own GUI so its not all that other stuff that comes with stardock products.. you simply install and and use the GUI to change them from one another... these are the theme based ones ill upp.. (i dont think its considered warez cuzz its not something you "buy" they just come with the system) http://theskinsfactory.com/skinsfactory/?page=view&portID=162&portPage=1http://theskinsfactory.com/skinsfactory/?page=view&portID=9&portPage=1 <---both "light and dark"http://theskinsfactory.com/sfadmin/files/126view1.gif ill get it done sometime 2nite.. cheers B Edited June 11, 2007 by Blah

What
Thanks for the info and torrent. I wasnt around for the first post, so this app is new to me. Been looking for something like this. Fungus
Vistamizer 1.2.1 has been released, check the authors homepage. There is also links there to other things to go along with it, like true transparency (eats a lot of resources), the sidebar, and some other things. So far it's been really stable for me. I wish it had support for the 24 bit logon screens though. But he might get to that eventually. The only bugs I've had are it not remembering folder settings sometimes, and the Start Menu looks messed up a tad on the computer I installed it to... I use classic start menu anyways so not really an issue with me. I have the Black Aurora desktop picture too if anyone wants it, to go along with the cool black theme. It's 1600*1200 24bit, so you can resize it to whatever desktop size you have. Just msg me and I will upload it somewhere, or link it here if Teddy thinks it is ok to do.Cheers
