Really subjective.

I loved Rise of the Robots (point 2), sure the screen was full of dots and the music(?) was noisy,

but I never saw a better beat'em with mechas like this once again.

i sitll think c64 had better game ideas..considering now with all the advancement technology alot of these games are just sucky and boring...yes better graphics but not as much fun and smart as some of the old school ideas...

Thats because your getting old like me  I'm still stuck in the worlds of the original Civilisation (the very first!), Realms, Utopia, Mega-lo-Mania and Lemmings classics on the Amiga. The PC's games I can't get unhooked from when I start to play is C&C but of them all my favourite is still the old Tiberium Sun and Operation Firestorm. I keep hoping one day they will keep the originality of Operation Firestorm games but give them fresh leaf of life in the form of better GFX, sounds and enhanced game play and of course new weapons and toys of destruction  I didn't really get in to Red Alert 2 and all the succeeding games thereafter.

Anyway... back on topic... I liked the number one spot, ET. You had to give Atari for their optimism but I can't believe they made such a big error like that... :D

your right about that..hahah getting older sucks but it does have its advantages...theres a game coming out called "They came from Hollywood" which is a idea based off the old c64 games but in 2D.. "crush crumble chomp/movie monster game,etc"..hopefully bring back a old c64 memory...hehe

its taking them years to finish it though..expansion packs,etc...

btw..E.T...wow that did suck...i never knew what to do besides pop its head up and down...and that hideous green background...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E.T._the_Extra-Terrestrial_(Atari_2600)

"[edit] E.T. (Atari 2600)

Reputedly coded in just six weeks, this game was rushed to the market for the 1982 holiday season, and it was based (very loosely) on the popular E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial movie that was a box office hit. The game was hard to play, simplistic and took place mostly in pits that the player had to somehow levitate out of. It was expected to sell millions, and even director Steven Spielberg seemed excited about the idea of having his hit movie made into a video game. Word of mouth spread fast but the video game sold extremely poorly during the holidays and beyond. Expectations were so high for this game by Atari, that warehouses were filled with cartridges for the would-be rush of buyers running to get the game. It turned out that the game was such a huge disaster, that millions of unsold excess cartridges ended up buried in a landfill in a New Mexico desert.[22] This game, along with just as rushed and ill-fated Pac-Man for the Atari 2600, is thought to be one of the main causes of the video game crash of 1983 and contributed to how Atari went from the US's greatest games publisher to a laughing stock. It is widely considered to be one of the first big video game flops ever.

The scale of the E.T. disaster has become almost legendary and the game is still well known nearly 25 years after its publication, despite the fact that few gamers today will have played the game. E.T. was ranked in 21st place in GameSpy's "25 Dumbest Moments in Video Game History"."

you can still play the classic amiga games, Im an oldie also and use amiga emulators to play some of my favourite games, As for C64 never really llike it much because i use have the old tape deck that took 1 hour to load a game... AMIGA still rocks and always will while they have emulators to play the old school games

I was a big Amiga nut years ago. In the UK I still have some Amiga's lying around; A1500 with expansion cards, etc. an A1200 and I've got a dead A500 plus lots of miscellanous parts. I may get them shipped over to me one year but I've never really been inclined, since Toni Wilen took over the WinUAE project the emulator seems to be perfect for everything. Running AmigaOS is faster and more feature packed than the real thing could ever be, so why even bother with the real deal :)

I hope that I get to see one of the AmigaOS ports come to fruition over the next year or two and for it to take off. It would be a real shame to let the legendary AmigaOS die... :(

Heh heh... the C64 was my first computer followed by an Atari STE (the posh one which didn't require soldering to upgrade from 512k to 1Mb RAM).

Some awesome games on both - Cannon Fodder anyone? And Elite. Man... I need to rummage in the Attic and dig some stuff back out!

U're damn right !!! ... me getting old... ? :D

Yeah C64 + Amiga were great.

Lode Runner, North & South... *sigh*

But the best games ever till now were the classic arcade games (slot machines) !

What the MAME-Project did (still does) is amaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing...

(MAME = Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator)

Playing these games again after so many years is like a dream... :sun:

Because their gfxs, sounds and especially the gameplay are simple

but everlasting...

Ah! Another World! How could anyone forget this game, I remember way back when this chestnut was released. There were guys playing this with their joystick in one hand and hankies in the other. Then came the sequel Flashback that was even better.

I presume the 500MB download is after the 7 Euros?
